Misunderstood by Jeakilo Misunderstood by Jeakilo
Im really bad at making stamps.
But after a conversation with :iconaddictionhalfway: I wanted to make this ono Maybe I'll figure out how to make a better one someday.

Not all villains are pure evil! :c
It seems in a lot of comics, movies, books, etc, villains are immediately assumed and made to be 100% evil, when in some cases they aren't.
Sometimes they're just.. misunderstood.
This also goes with "you don't have to be goody-goody to be a hero".

Being evil is kind of the definition of a villain.

Seriously, it's in the dictionary:

villain
[vil-uh n]
noun
1.
a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel.
2.
a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot.
----------------
You seem like you're thinking of antagonists.

Like this:

antagonist
[an-tag-uh-nist]
noun
1.
a person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another; opponent; adversary.
2.
the adversary of the hero or protagonist of a drama or other literary work:
Iago is the antagonist of Othello.

I completely agree with this becuase my main OC is the villain and just by looking at him you think he's the bad guy when he's actually not at all , can I use this ???

I prefer the Antagonist being complex, more salt to the soup.  Especially when you can understand why they're doing whatever it is they're doing in my own experience it has been "I get it.  Still doesn't justify it, but I get it."

Which must be why I absolutly love the "Fallen hero" villain.

I agree; characters whom are completely 100% evil antagonists are in fact, quite boring. I always love the ones with story lines to them, that make you almost understand their future actions.

Antagonists whom are simply evil, with little else supporting them, are, well, boring.

I think a villain is given a reason for the path they have taken is a better story anyway and gives the reader or viewer a better understanding of the character's view.

Misunderstood, or doing what they're doing because another evil villain(who IS pure evil) is making them do it. For a while most of the villain i tried to create ended up like this(or would pull a heel-face-turn and side with the good guys/heroes).
Or tragic villains.

I have a story with a "villain" like that; she's running around doing bad things, but it's the true "villain" behind it all that's making her do these things. Posession! How tragic.

In one story that did I actually had one of the villain manipulating one of the protagonists with 'unless you bring us what we want(in this case, some powerful artefacts) we will kill your little sister, who we have hostage'.
It was a fun story to write, even though it took a little over a year to complete, (though, it /was/ 300 pages long).

This TOTALLY fits on of my characters! :dummy:

He's sadistic, mean, and kills people, but he only became that way from killing so many, and he only kills them because he has to, to look out for his sister. His real personality is actually like his sister's, so he's actually very nice and kind. xD

True!

There are villains that are misunderstood:

Mr. Freeze (Batman)
Impmon (Digimon Tamers)
Bushroot (Darwing Duck)

I agree. Some characters become villains because they've been hurt in some way that was pretty traumatic for them. But some of them do realize they were wrong for their own actions in the end and make up for it.
